I stumbled across this post today and feel it is very valuable in connecting the body/mind/spirit with celestial activity. In addition, just after our recent CME flares, I had been experiencing a number of the exact symptoms described in the article. They were, in fact, making me feel extremely ill. It was quite relieving and helpful to read this author’s article and to be able to view those symptoms in a much broader perspective – and certainly a more positive one than they had been making me feel.
And, yes, still working on the next installment of Venus Crossing the Sun.
Yes, it has been a while since I have posted. This is not due to neglect but, rather, because I have been re-directing my attention to other avenues of thought and creativity.
Most of you are aware that I have incorporated, over time, the philosophy of the Tao into my astrological writings and readings.
After much contemplation and a feeling of being torn between two places of thought and interest, though both dovetail seamlessly into my consultations, I find that I have needed to devote a greater amount of my time right now to developing another of my websites, which is dedicated solely and entirely to my writings and classes about the ancient Tao.
I have, indeed, been developing that website and initiating my classes devoted solely to that pursuit. Such contemplations and writings have been stimulated by my renewed commitment to teaching and interpreting the ancient (versus traditional or conventional) Tao. It has been a long time in coming as I have been engaged in the philosophy and practice of the Tao for many years. Reflections upon it never cease to delight me, as well as encourage new ways of thinking and being in the world.
I will continue to write here of astrological interests and find that my need to write of the ancient Tao does, indeed, completely resonate with our most recent collective experience of Venus crossing the Sun – a once in a 105 (or so) year occurrence.
We should, indeed, all sit up and take notice, as many of our own progeny will never experience it and all of us who witnessed it are fortunate to have done so. My own mother never did during her lifetime. In that light, I have initiated my separate website on the ancient Tao, which, I hope, may begin to elucidate and transmit the feminine Tao, so long lost amidst, betwixt and between our patriarchally- and hierarchically-oriented culture.
Venus crossing the Sun means that the Divine Feminine, if allowed to do so in this place and time, can lead us into new paradigms of equality with one another. Such equality means we must divest ourselves of old paradigms of male/female relationships and to forge new ways of being with each other. The death of the old social/cultural paradigms of boy/girl dating/relating are over. Here, we have the opportunity to start to meet each other as adult men and women within a more holistic understanding of the world and our place within it. That will take listening to our guts (solar plexus) and acting with guts. Risk-taking is the order of the day and, after many years of contemplation, I realized my own need to do so. Such are the writings of my new website, which will, ultimately, inform and direct my writings here. They always have. It is just that, at this juncture in our (and my own) history, I choose to address such issues more directly than I feel I have been able with the focus here of astrology as its main concern.
I will indeed, write of that rare occurrence of Venus and her crossing of our Sun shortly. But, for now, I do invite you to visit my new website: taowisdom.wordpress.com to find out more about what I am doing these days, as well as to read of new days ahead for all of us.
Thank you all for your continued support and reading of this site. I have not forgotten all of you. I have, in fact, been forging a new way for myself and all of us to think about ourselves in a larger context and, whether here or there, I will address those issues.
This Full Moon, at 1:39AM PST, should inspire a very beautiful, resonant sound in all of us. At its exactitude, we have a Grand Trine in the Earth signs: Moon/Mars in Virgo in the 8th house, Jupiter/Venus in Taurus in the 4th house and Pluto in Capricorn in the 1st. And all held within the open palm of the Sun in Pisces/Calypso, goddess and knower of deep emotion and the hidden depths of our souls.
Astronomically, the conjunction of Jupiter and Venus through the month of March (exact on March 13 at about 10PM PST) will be the most spectacular for years to come. They both appear together even now very brightly in the Western sky just after sunset – two beacons of beauty and benevolence that are stunning to see. They will remain visible through the month of March and will return as lovers again in May when they take up their duet in Gemini, but more on that later.

Here we are, in the final days of the end of an ancient, indigenous calendar, at least in the calculated view of a north american white male who decided that his new and improved interpretation of another culture’s work is, of course, the correct one. Because it’s “real science” of course, sifted and purified by the sieves and structures of mathematical equations and derivations scratched out on blank sheets of white paper and mental somersaults conducted inside square rooms full of volumes of similar mental chatter. It’s the story of the cowboys versus the indians, once again.
The reclamation required in an examination of the story of Demeter and her daughter, Persephone, must be conducted on both the material and metaphoric realms in order for its message to be fully comprehended. This is the story first and foremost of the intense love and devotion of a mother for her daughter. It is also, however, one of the first examples of how the patriarchy takes a distinctly feminine narrative and alters it, not just for its own immediate benefit, but to shape all future narratives in service of that patriarchal agenda. Like the asphalt and carpets that have buried the once vibrant heart of natural and holistic civilizations, the stories of ourselves have also been painted over with foreign words. They have been left as dry, truncated husks – empty tomes whose only purpose is to serve the needs of political, social, economic and religious institutions bent on exercising authority and power over others.
The need here is to pull up the rugs, open the closets, air out and reclaim these narratives. They are stories of love, passion and the deep desires of individuals to serve the good of the whole. They were not written down at all – they were not etched into stultifying, leather-bound encyclopedias. They were, rather, engaged in and played out within the rich and unpredictable terrain between the bookends of thousands of years of living. They are stories of blood and birth, of harvest and cornucopias, of reverence and duty to that which is, indeed, incomprehensible to the human mind, the divine intelligence which infuses all things with life. The focus of those intertwining and intersecting epochs, eras, and communal and singular lives were centered upon the subtle and brilliant movements between the once-fluid masculine and feminine energetics, guided by the wisdom of the goddess. There could be no more event as appropriate for expressing the tumultuous awakening powers of Uranus than the 8.9 Richter Scale earthquake that hit Japan on the very day that Uranus surfaced from her 7-year sojourn through the submarine sign of Pisces and ascended into the fiery heavens of Aries (8:49pm March 11, 2011).
This celestial harbinger of enlightenment, disruption and the vigorous breaking up of the order of things hit her mark on the stage right on cue – within 24 hours of her transition from the watery underworld to the bright light of day. Japan’s earthquake and subsequent tsunami and possible meltdown of a nuclear reactor originated in the unconscious depths of the oceans, travelled up through the conductive medium of water, and made herself known in open air. This is the perfect metaphor for Uranus Rising and exactly the kind of roiling surface between our collective conscious and unconscious self of which I spoke in my previous two entries (Fasten Your Seat Belts and Secure Your Diving Belt). This impact will ripple across the surface of our minds for a long time to come, even as the earthquake itself has set off a vibration within the core of our planet equivalent to that of a ringing bell, which will resound into our future. We should imagine a brass tibetan singing bowl, having just been cleanly struck by our cosmic meditator. This event represents the arrival of Uranus in our consciousness and provides a full spectrum of the kinesthetic enlighenment that Uranus bestows in her wake. As astrological aspects already indicated, this Spring is destined to be unusually active with transitions and more unpredictable bellweathers forecast.
